Our first original series, Slasher, premieres this Friday at 9pm ET. The show revolves around a young woman, Sarah, who returns to her hometown years after her parents were brutally murdered in their home, shocking the town to its core.
Now that she's back, she wants to finally move past the trauma, but someone seems intent on making the town relive the nightmare. Now a whole new set of murders are occurring, and it's up to Sarah to investigate the past and solve the mystery before the killer comes for her.
If you love horror and TV, then you should definitely watch Slasher, but if that's not enough for you, we've come up with 10 reasons for you to check out the show this Friday night.
1. Katie McGrath
Katie McGrath plays Sarah, the scream queen around which Slasher is based. You may not know her yet, but you’ve probably seen star Katie McGrath’s work. She appeared in last summer’s box office smashing Jurassic World as Zara, Claire’s assistant who has an unfortunate yet memorable encounter with a pteranodon. She also appeared in BBC’s Merlin and NBC’s Dracula, but now she’s a full-fledged leading lady in Slasher. Hopefully she doesn’t have quite a miserable fate as her Jurassic World character…
2. The Executioner
Rocking a black hood and a lot of leather, the Executioner is a force to be reckoned with. He has one sole purpose: to punish the wicked. And if you get on his bad side, he will come for you…
3. Creative Murders
The show is called Slasher after all, which is basically a promise that there have to be some unique and creative kills involved. Especially since those kills relate to…
4. Seven Deadly Sins
The Executioner’s murders are tied to the seven deadly sins. You know the ones: lust, greed, pride, envy, sloth, wrath and gluttony. We’ll leave it a mystery as to just how they’re tied in for now, but suffice it to say if you had an appreciation for Seven, you’ll probably appreciate what’s going on here too.
5. Silence of the Lambs Style Teamwork
Sarah must work with the murderer of her parents to solve the mystery behind the town’s new murders. The killer, Tom Wilson, is incredibly creepy but strangely charismatic. Kind of like a certain cannibal we know…
6. Hot Cops
Steve Byers plays Cam Henry, a cop who is a childhood friend of Sarah’s. He’s also pretty easy on the eyes, so if you’re into dreamy Canadians with nice arms (and who isn’t?) we’ve got just the guy for you. Also, Tori Spelling’s husband Dean McDermott plays the chief of police.
7. Disturbed Townspeople
Living in a town that was the site of a brutal double homicide can really take its toll on people, and the citizens of Waterbury all seem to be dealing with it in their own unusual ways. Some turn to drugs, some turn to sex, and some… turn to murder.
8. Buried Secrets
Unlike a lot of horror movies where hapless victims seem to die simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, the characters of Slasher all have deep, buried secrets that make them a target for the Executioner. Half of the fun is finding out just what terrible thing everyone’s hiding.
9. Crazy Plot Twists
On that note, with buried secrets come shocking reveals, and Slasher has more than a few of those up its sleeve. Sometimes your worst enemy can turn into your greatest ally, or your best friend could be a murderer. With Slasher, you’re never sure who you can fully trust.
10. Characters Falling Down
Because when a murderer is on the loose, it’s scientifically impossible for people to stay standing upright.
